Others could no longer afford to retire. I would like “secretary” to be a retired title that just goes away. How skilled are you in handling “offsite” support across time zones? Administrators handled many tasks, and had backups, cross training, and team-shared projects. What’s in a name? Or are you getting a paycheck?

The CEO I was working for at the time was very busy and my meeting scheduling skills were put to the test. He was also an international traveler so I had to learn everything about time zones, flights and everything in between when your boss travels to a foreign country. hours a week seemed like a part-time job to me.

You’re always saying, well, when I retire, I’m going back to Rome, so you should just stay in Rome, and we can all work together. I think time zones have an impact on that to a degree. And so, we’ve got a seven-hour time difference between us right now. A lot and you’re not going be happy here.

I was traveling, so different time zone, different pillows and et cetera, and I had to make a choice to sleep 1 hour more or go to the gym. And I think we’re going to need that advantage because a lot of us are not retiring at a traditional age, are saying, no, I want to keep working, I want to keep producing.

The exception is what I mentioned earlier: when people are in a different time zone and our time difference is too great to accommodate an afternoon meeting. I also use this time to answer questions on various Product Forums, LinkedIn Groups/Messages, or attend a presentation/lecture.
