The staffing agent asked if I was open to temp to perm, even though the position was for a full time EA, he feels the CEO may need time to see if it is a good fit. I have no idea how long "temp" is considered before they would offer the permanent position. It feels like a bait and switch and there are no guarantees.

Although your title is Executive Assistant, in reality, your job hunt will reflect that of an executive in years of experience, salary, and specialty. As you are job hunting, think hard about if you want to temp, freelance, do contract work, temp-to-hire, or direct hire roles only and under which circumstance.

I make an incredible salary so when I tell my husband and friends I want to explore other avenues, they think I'm crazy. And as I was working, job hunting and/or temping, I had to find other sources of happiness. I also thought about money, salary negotiation, and how I was spending my time. My boss seems oblivious.
