I temped here and there for a year. Finally, I got a job interview through the temp agency for a one-year contract. A few days ago I went to this man’s retirement party and there were a lot of nice things said about him. Thank you Mr. B for taking me on and I wish you all the very best in your retirement.

The staffing agent asked if I was open to temp to perm, even though the position was for a full time EA, he feels the CEO may need time to see if it is a good fit. I have no idea how long "temp" is considered before they would offer the permanent position. It feels like a bait and switch and there are no guarantees.

I was out of work, temping here and there for a year. Being a member is not only a great place for networking, but for mentoring and learning of jobs in your area. Don’t underestimate the value of temping. Working for a temp agency can either land you a full-time job or help to keep you employed while you are looking.

And as I was working, job hunting and/or temping, I had to find other sources of happiness. This was mostly as a temp during very slow months when the entire industry was on vacation, but I’m sure the paycheck wasn’t as amazing as yours. Volunteer and mentor online by being an email pen pal. It also looks bad on one’s resume.
