As the CEO of an industry training platform, I’m encouraging job seekers to become competitive and use their drive to their advantage as the year ends. They’ll be looking to spend their capital on hiring and training. Holiday hiring is in progress, so now is the time to double down on your job search efforts.
A stellar career portfolio captures your progressing skill levels, professional recognition, career enhancements, development activities, and impressive accomplishments. To be very clear, a career portfolio’s primary purpose is NOT about jobhunting, and I’m a firm believer that anything done haphazardly is not worth doing.
Getting delulu about your jobhunt or career transition A shocking 84% of hiring companies are willing to hire and train a candidate who doesn’t have the required skills in that job description you’ve been reading and rereading, according to 2019 research from a global staffing firm, Robert Half.
For individuals not originally trained in STEM fields, learning quantitative skills like data analysis or statistics could lead to more stable and higher-paying jobs. Their study showed that it’s often our casual acquaintances, rather than our closest friends, who turn out to be our most useful connections in jobhunts.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its related software is not just gaining traction within professional workplaces around the world , it’s also being used by job seekers in their prospective jobhunts. If they do pay for your training it may commit you to working at the company for a period of time, but it is worth it if it gets you one step closer to your goal.

I decided to leave my previous employee in June 2010 but was jobhunting for 6 months and when I did get the role I am in currently I had to complete a detailed application form, attend three interviews and sit two psychometric tests (for language and numerical skills). If the new role requires you to work in a department supporting a number of people the answers should detail the excellent skills you have that will help the team succeed. I do work well on my own but I also like to get involved in projects and feel that I can contribute to any group work either using my creative or organisational skills.

Think about what skills people come to you for, what experiences you have that people talk to you about and what areas of expertise people ask you to help them with. See how your list of soft skills is greater than your other 2 lists?
