I did very well on my interviews and it's down to me and one other EA who already has a full time job. The staffing agent asked if I was open to temp to perm, even though the position was for a full time EA, he feels the CEO may need time to see if it is a good fit. How long do you think is fair? This can be taken in one of two ways.

Temp, volunteer, apply for PT work and list that as your present role. So, it's best to search for temporary, short-term admin work via temping, volunteering, applying for part time work so you have something to put on your resume. Call your old contacts, do informational interviews, network twice removed.

In interviews I’ve said that I’ve worked for introverts and extroverts and my job is to conform to the needs of my boss. This means when you show up for the interview you are courteous to everyone. Your interview starts even before you shake hands with anyone or answer an interview question.

Whether based on your cover letter or resume, recruiters only take 6 seconds to see if you are match. Whenever you interview for a job, there’s at least 2-3 interviews if not more. Sometimes companies don’t validate for parking especially if you are doing testing at a temp agency and are there for a few hours. You’ll need to make copies of your resume or have a nice folder. Have money for job hunting and working.

Google for the UTA list and sign up for all email lists and job boards for the entertainment industry, network with people you know, send your resume and cover letter snail mail to every company you want to work at to the attn of the recruiting department, and establish an online presence so headhunters find you via LinkedIn and job sites.

I also knew everything I was feeling was very true for me, but also confusing because if my boss didn’t need me, I wouldn’t have a job, I wouldn’t get a paycheck, and I wouldn’t have all this experience to put on my resume. I will temp and enjoy the downtime to spring clean and read for personal/intra self improvement.

Sign up with the major job hunting sites with your resume and profile, join social network sites geared towards work, and meet with every temp agency in town just to be safe. When I entered the workforce, my resume was already pretty lengthy so I didn't have to start from the very bottom.

I was out of work, temping here and there for a year. A Job is Waiting to Happen to You Long gone are the days of scouring the newspaper want ads and pounding the pavement going from office to office submitting your resume. Employers may get to see a side of you other than what you put on your resume or present at the interview.
