The grateful among us enjoy higher self-esteem and are generally in better moods. Two days later, the sleepy, snappy malaise that hovered over our house like some gray beast was gone, and holiday joy had returned. They’re more empathetic and less inclined to vengeful retaliation. Obviously I am grateful to know this.
