In London, I met my husband-to-be (now ex) and I ended up retiring and moving to the Caribbean for 5 years. I worked and temped at various places in general administrator/secretarial roles until I found a job where I really felt I could make a difference. I got married, moved countries (with a cat) and had a baby in 9 months!

Virtual workers can be from a “Temp-Agency&# or a from contracting firms. Both of these relationships are good for your cost-planning because they are not fixed, permanent costs, they are variable cost, meaning, when the project is finished the contract for your temp-workers, contractors finishes too. If the fit isn’t close enough, they toss or file your resume. The shortest route is to look for temp work thru agencies or TaskRabbit, Craiglist, or volunteer. What job title or job description do you want to have right before you retire and then figure out a game plan and work backwards on how you want to get there.

And as I was working, job hunting and/or temping, I had to find other sources of happiness. This was mostly as a temp during very slow months when the entire industry was on vacation, but I’m sure the paycheck wasn’t as amazing as yours. I knew I didn’t want to job hunt for more than 6-9 months if I didn’t have to.
