In addition I met with a number of serviced apartment suppliers and from the outset it was clear that the apartments were considerably cheaper than the best corporate rate I was offered at a hotel. It is easy to negotiate on the price per night with a serviced apartment as they do tend to discount on block bookings.

If the supplier knows you are ready to buy for the right price they will cut you a deal. Get better payment terms by negotiation. Promise to buy from one supplier for better payment terms, like 60 or 90 days. Getting a better price is especially easy to do right now, since suppliers are tripping over themselves to get business.

Be prepared to negotiate if necessary. Like everything in business, it’s about negotiation for both funds and time. Over the course of the year I collated a ‘show and tell’ file of all of the internal / external training I had attended and any work related achievement. This will allow you to stay in close touch with your supplier, and get real time up-dates and feed-back – there are other benefits too. Negotiate a back-up deal if you can, so if your primary provider falls ill, you have a back-up, or divide the work between two or more service providers to begin with. Do It Online. Pay on time.
