The images I take with my iPhone 7 are far superior to my expensive, 10 year old digital camera. Yet another reason to ditch the file cabinet and move your files to the cloud; file access on your smartphone. Amazon , Staples and Sam’s Club apps. My favorite is Slack , but there is also Yammer and Skype.

My mind is already planning the next Board meeting and how I will organize my desk and the filing at the new place. I want all my filing to be up to date and my desk to be neat and tidy. Filing - We all have filing to do and when you are leaving it is even more important to get it done. Update your filing list.

We were on the same page with going through papers and filing. The box of staples was in with the checks and greeting cards, not near the stapler, because there wasn’t room in that drawer. Then she took a plastic file envelope, the kind with a flap and an elastic band to keep it closed, and put all the folders into it and closed it up.

I used to work for a company that didn’t have an online system for expenses (loads of companies have yet to invest in this) so I would put off doing expenses because it involved spreadsheets, photocopying receipts then photocopying the spreadsheet and lots and lots of stapling… urgh. I hated it. Learn to say no.

OneNote: My Filing Cabinet In The Clouds. create notebooks and files just like I would with paper, but now it is all organized on my computer. The tool allows us to know where the business stands at-a-glance, view client data, track sales and expenses, create and manage invoices/purchase orders as well as see industry trends. It houses so much more than a file index. This allows them to keep it within site, but all projects are kept in an organized file.

Idea File – Ideas strike at random times, in the oddest places. Save recognized file formats to that folder and Evernote will upload to your account. Evernote recognizes text on the card, so you can search for names such as “Staples” or “Henry” when that’s all you can remember about the person.
