What is the proper etiquette when addressing or writing to a President? Here is a video link on the proper etiquette to address a President. Everyone up here calls him Obama and our Prime Minister is called Harper. Why do we not use their full name? Or it is that we just dont know how to address them so revert to last names?

Due to the wide breadth of employees in large global companies, everything from timezones and language barriers to country culture and local business norms can create sticking points. There will be differences, ranging from the internal platforms they prefer to appropriate office etiquette.
One can imagine the resonance here against large multinational teams operating in a matrix structure with multiple backgrounds, skill sets and scopes and especially those that work under a follow the sun model (where one timezone sleeps, the other is awake to continue the trail).

Many times the administrative assistant position is a good way into an organization and what a great training ground to know an organizations inner workings than in this profession. I think many university students are seeing the value in having this kind of training. So much is expected of executives these days.
Years ago, when I worked for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), I took a training course on a Telex machine. Again, when I worked at the RCMP, I went on a training course for a machine to do criminal record checks. Good thing I checked. I wonder what kind of service the client would have thought he was offering!

In my current role I cant take someones blood pressure and in my previous role, often times they wanted to be a Lotus Notes developer. There comes a time when companies need to pony up the money and either pay for your training or pay for a professional instead of heaving everything off on the admin because theyre cheap.
