Get started as a virtual assistant with no experience or skills. I started as a beginner VA 6 years ago and I’m here to show you it’s possible for you too. Just over 5 years ago I launched my own VA business (after months of DIYing and almost quitting). I had no clue where to start, find clients or what to offer as a service. But I kept going… I’ll never forget that first post I shared announcing I was now a Virtual Assistant looking for clients.

One of the latest people to invent activity-based working is sociologist Ana Andjelic, who combines it with the similarly familiar hub and spoke office model on her substack as a solution to the Great Office Problem. She’s not the first and is a less surprising pioneer of a decades old model than some other people who should really know better. That includes an architectural practice who came up with the idea earlier this year and whose name escapes me.

New research from City & Guilds suggests that the odds are being stacked against young people’s futures and career aspirations – particularly the most disadvantaged. Following a trend of chronically high youth unemployment, the poll of 5,000 18-24-year-olds living in the UK claims that 13 percent are currently unemployed (not in work or studying) and a further 3 percent are economically inactive – equating to approximately 859,000 young adults out of work and education across the UK.

It’s a classic story: We go about our lives, striving to achieve the next big thing, and the itch to be successful clouds the importance of taking care of our inner self and nurturing our well-being. Apparently, employers have been running into trouble trying to simplify the paper W-4 for their electronic systems. The IRS has responded with an emphatic “You can’t do that!”.

Experience certainly matters, but that can only come to you after years of dedication. Talent matters, too, but aside from skills (which develop from experience) much of your talent is an innate tendency to perform better in certain areas.

A study from Unispace claims that the majority of workplaces are not set up to enable staff to work to their best ability. The results of the poll of 3,000 office workers and 2,750 employers across Europe, found that despite 78 percent of businesses stating that their office has been set up to enable staff to be creative and productive, over half (52 percent) of employers noted that creativity and innovation among their employees increased while work from home guidance was in place.
Despite the belief that employees in the office are more engaged at work, a study shows that 56% of office professionals looked for ways to avoid work when being tracked by employee monitoring software — much higher than the 39% of remote workers. . Right brain versus left brain. Art versus math. We subscribe to one side or the other. When we’re stumped by a problem, it’s not because we’re not trying; it’s simply not in our DNA. Creativity, it seems, blesses only a few. In a 2007 TED Talk, Vilayanur S. Ramachandran, Ph.D., a neuroscientist and director of the Center for Brain and Cognition at the University of California, San Diego, said that synesthesia—a condition that causes people to link two sensory perceptions involuntarily—is e

The UK government has announced that all workers will now gain the right to request flexible working as a day one right – as to after 6 months of employment in the previous legislation. This move is a very welcome one, yet not enough to make flexible working a norm for all workers. To ensure that workers are truly able to access flexible working arrangements, we need to tackle the flexibility stigma still rampant in the UK.
To reduce employee fears about returning to the office, encouraging everyone to get the new booster is an excellent strategy. . Employees and leaders receiving booster shots helps benefit company bottom lines by reducing sick days, addressing worker resistance to coming to the office, minimizing PR fiascos, and helping executives be on the front lines of stakeholder capitalism. .

I tie my turquoise hip belt around my waist, feeling the weight of the gold coins against my skin. I press my bare soles into the wooden floor and twist my arms like snakes, one to the left, one to the right. I bend my knees and move my hips to the front, to the side, to the back, to the side. I gently shake my knees; my torso begins to undulate. I can’t stop smiling.

New Year’s resolutions are a chance to fire up the willpower that waned in the previous year. They’re a chance to resolve to make ourselves do better, live more fully and stop holding ourselves back. Using the Enneagram, we can set goals and craft New Year’s resolutions with an understanding of why we act the way we do and what it will take for us to tr
Things were starting to unravel, but I needed to stay positive. In 2005, Primerica’s almost decade-long partnership with Citigroup had reached the point where we just didn’t fit within their environment anymore. It was causing problems for both them and us. Around Christmas that year, things had escalated to the point where we had to call a meeting with their CEO to find a solution that would help both companies.

Less than two weeks from the first day of school, I received an email informing us about a $500 tuition increase. I was outraged. I wanted to scorch the earth. How dare they play with people’s finances that way? How dare they wait this long to tell us, when finding another option would be near impossible? I wanted to make the impulsive decision to demand my deposit back and switch schools right then and there.
In 2010, after losing her fashion design job during The Great Recession, Kristine Deer founded the activewear brand K-DEER.
