I found the list in my ‘things to keep’ file the other day and thought I would share it with you all. Recycle scrap paper for notes / doodling etc. Can you conduct a meeting via WebEx or conference call rather than travelling to meet clients. If you do have to travel can you take public transport rather than a cab?

He would often turn up to meetings without the correct supporting papers or they would have doodles all over them, which didn’t help his reputation. He was very self reliant so he didn’t want me to touch his unique filing system. I would pop the file on his desk so that he had everything he needed for the following morning.

Doodle on a note pad. Doodling doesn’t work with a pen because you can’t erase mistakes. Straighten up your files. I have to start on the new travel guide I’m writing for my publisher and have made it to an outline, which I think is pretty kick ass. Draw a smiley face. Sharpen pencils. Dust your desk.
