Start learning Self-directed learning is the method used when a learner controls the objectives and means of learning. It is a continuous process, often informal, and an important factor in lifelong learning. Many adults engage in self-directed learning to improve their work performance.
Three of my favourites: 6 – Learn to say “No”. I think that (1) make a daily plan and (6) learn to say “No&# are two that stand out. While this makes sense, it doesn’t mean you should ignore behind-the-scenes business administration tasks, such as setting policies. Policies that outline how you run various elements of your business, and why you do it that way, set boundaries and create a foundation for the business. When will you answer calls and return calls?
It’s important to learn how and when to say no. Heather, came close to burnout, working long hours and weekends, until she learned how to make a priority of what she had to, should and even wanted to do. Once you establish a pattern, co-workers will learn to respect that time and not disturb you.
However, I can’t imagine any discipline where one would be expected to ignored the foundation that has been laid by others as part of their own learning. And sometimes that’s probably true. There is a lot of knowledge to be culled and transfered from others.

Like any skill, delivery must be learned. Use metaphors, analogies, and similes. Avoid a dry recitation of facts. Model the techniques of good speakers. Try out the techniques you admire in others. Practice your delivery in front of a mirror, or better yet, a video camera. Playback the presentation and look for areas to improve.
Learn from the example of others. If you take time to add these practices to your regular routine, you will quickly find your creative scope increasing. Suck it up. Creativity leads to more creativity. Take time every day to absorb new knowledge and information: read, listen and watch. If you want to be a painter, go to museums and galleries.

One of the lessons I learned early on was that it's easy to be busy and think you are being productive. I learned my lesson really quickly. I learned that as a business owner my focus has to be on my customers and sales, not busy work and errands. I placed the cancellation policy in my contract right above my guarantee.

The lessons learned there, and built upon over time, have proved to be the most useful of my school days. In each grade, every student was expected to give at least one speech to the class over the course of the year. In addition, the school held an annual public speaking competition.
To keep our lives in balance, we need to learn to be content with what we have. For example, discontent with one’s weight can lead to diet and exercise. However, if the discontent gets out of control, diet can become an eating disorder.
