I turned off my email notification a long time ago (about 15 years) because I did not want to be taken out of the important state of concentration when working on projects. 100 emails a day x 220 work days a year. So let's really do the math! HOURS A YEAR LOST TO EMAIL PINGS! You got it. You got it.
His team is global, so physical solutions (like white boards and sticky notes on a big wall) will not work for him. I LOVE basecamp I have used it to coordinate many different projects where team members are all over the place. If the tool can help with team communication, even better!
