I recently came across this list from one of my classes and wanted to share it. Many times in my live workshops and seminars for executive and administrative assistants, I ask the participant to create a list of qualities, attributes, and attitudes of star-performing assistants. Over the years, I have collected more than 300 ideas.
Take classes, read a book, read current events about new trends that are happening in your field. See what you can change about yourself, don’t try to change others. Focus on the challenges and embrace the strengths. Avoid people that gossip, you will only get yourself deeper into negativity. Expand your mind.
Go out with friends, take a hot bath, listen to some music, join a club or take a class. It’s really important to keep your home and work life separate. Schedule some “me” time. Imagine that the end of the world is near. Picture what you would do in the last moments of your time. Create a budget!
It’s not so much about receiving a ‘certification’ as it is about what will be covered in a class or online course. It seemed that being the ‘go to’ person meant I should be up to speed on company policies and procedures, office etiquette and in-house systems as soon as I started.
