There are some companies that, unfortunately, don’t allow for purchases such as stationary , fax machines , toner , etc. Do you feel that you could find better buys, not just by going to the different stores such as Staples or Grand & Toy , but online as well? Since I work for a large corporation, this is my case as well.

Then I have my faxes set up as green. For example, I receive an e-mail from my direct supervisor. This will show up in red, since I know I have to get to this one first, before I can even touch any other one. I know that this would be next, since people depend on these quite a bit around my office.

There have been instances of where employees that sit a few cubicles away from each other prefer to e-mail rather than walk over or call the other on the phone. I work in a back office environment, where 99% of our client interaction is via the phone, e-mail or outside of the office, so I can wear jeans and a t-shirt. It would be interesting to see how many companies would allow for this type of dress code, since quite a lot of places have client visits on a regular basis.

Here are some tips to consider: Even if you dont know the answer to their question, tell them that you will get back to them via e-mail, phone, etc. You can avoid this by taking a proactive approach to client concerns. Make sure to give them a timeline of approximately how long it will take for you to get the answer to them.
