Many of these free background and smilie packages (and screen savers for that matter) that are available for download on the web contain viruses and/or spyware. If you want to really make the IT guys mad, download one of those spywares that are so bad they have to reformat your hard drive to get rid of it.

In the near future, Blackberries, Apple iCals and many different types of phones will be supported on this software as well.

If you receive a file that was written in the Microsoft Office 2007 format, you can download the patch called Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats. The only downfall was that if you accidentally sent the client a Microsoft Excel XP version, they wouldnt be able to open it.

A template can be downloaded here. Make sure to provide feedback (positive and/or negative) so that everyone can obtain ideas from what is being said. After the meeting, provide a copy of the meeting minutes to everyone involved in the meeting. You will notice that your meetings will run much smoother once you apply these methods.

Heres a link to download a copy of the sign , if youre interested. The easiest way to avoid this is to create a "Do Not Disturb" sign and place it somewhere on your cubicle that can be seen clearly. Many of my colleagues have used this method and I have never seen anyone complain, from either side.

In a nut shell, you download the free software , install it and it’s always running in the background. It might even keep you reading information in the browser, instead of focusing on your original task. There is a more productive method that you can use to conduct your research. There is a new service called Kallout.
