I am actually a part of a committee called the “Administrative Exchange&# at my firm. We hold meetings every so often (since everyone’s busy and can’t really figure out when these meetings work for everyone), but we do try to meet at least once every quarter.
Join a committee or run for a leadership position. Don’t blanket the room with your businesscard. If it’s too small, or the people aren’t what you’re looking for, it’s not worth the investment. Once you’ve found an association that works for you, be sure to regularly attend meetings and participate. Get involved.
