He hands out his executive assistant's businesscard when he has told someome in person that he wants an appointment with them or they requested an appointment with him. Since his executive assistant manages his calendar, he hands the person her businesscard so this way the other person can easily and quickly contact her.

I had one Executive that had a bunch of the old style Rolodex businesscard holders dotted around his office. When I told him that I could put an app on his new iPhone that scanned the businesscard directly into his Outlook contacts he was over the moon. AHHHHHHHHH!
