Olympia loved that at the beginning of the movie, the women could be seen as the beloved and well worn Southern female stereotypes – preoccupied with gossip, clothes, hair, flowers, and food. The script was about the friendship of women. These women are steel magnolias – beautiful and soft on the outside and tough on the inside.

In a span of about 6 months, they have been riddled with a very serious health issue, a home renovation that went bad via a freak incident, they lived in a hotel for almost two months, they had to re-decorate again, and then another very serious illness. I admire them, their marriage, and their attitude.

Further, I have determined that this great resignation – and certainly the desire to quit – began long before the pandemic, but the Covid health crisis simply accelerated the exodus because it was now easier to leave their manager. The greatest gift you can give anyone is the freedom to be exactly who they are. It’s up to us.
