Several years ago, I found myself in a position at a company that was facing budget cuts. I knew with my experience and overqualifications the interview committee would want to know why I would be willing to take a pay cut and less work responsibilities. Prepare answers for anticipated questions the committee might ask.
Serve as department liaison and attend or participate in company-wide committee meetings to stay up to date on new policies and announcements and report back to manager and department. Discuss the importance of a calendar time block for your manager to focus on emails, presentations, budget, etc.
