So, the very best advice I can give you around how to write good minutes is to read other people’s minutes and start to work out what’s good, what isn’t; what fits your style, and what doesn’t. Ask yourself though, if someone who wasn’t at the meeting was to read these minutes, would they learn something?

Much easier than searching in Outlook and less stressful. When a meeting is finalized, I put the scheduling sheet in a completed file. Another benefit to writing it down is if your boss asks you to cancel it or to quickly tell you when the meeting is, you can look at the sheet rather than trying to search for it in your calendar.
Some things I have on this list is a memory stick with the minute templates, tentcards, meals ordered, meeting packages, pen, notebook, highlighter, calculator (I hate math so just in case they ask something that requires mathematical skills) and attendance records to establish quorum for each meeting.
