Networking at a conference does little good if you never speak with the person after the event. If you meet someone at an Administrative Assistant conference, for example, make sure to follow up with that contact within a week or two after the event. If you discussed a need at the conference, be sure to address it.

On that note, It is hard to believe we are getting close to AdministrativeProfessionals Day which is on April 22 nd. Recently, we wanted to see who was off site and at what event, so we decided when people are away at conferences, etc. For instance if I was going to be away to attend a conference I would put: Pat off site (IAAP/Toronto) This way we can keep track of who is going where, when. As wonderful as online learning can be, going to a live conference or seminar with other assistants is something that you should try to do a few times a year. Let your fingers do the walking: Quick keyboard sh. All you need is to put some time aside and close your door, or put some earphones on, and plug into your computer and learn.
