April is just around the corner and we love celebrating administrativeprofessionals! In honor of AdministrativeProfessionals Week (4/20 – 4/24) and Office Dynamics 25th Year in business educating administrativeprofessionals and their executives, we are bringing back our Blog-a-Thon.
These executive letters are one of the requirements for a Star Achievement Series® participant to receive their CEAP (Certified Executive AdministrativeProfessional) designation. My assistant looks at my calendar weeks away and helps me think about the time needed to complete projects or get ready for presentations.

Daily Calendars. It is easy to place a wrong time or wrong date on a calendar. Or because so many executives are independent, they place events on their own calendars and forget to inform their administrative partner. Gone are the days when administrators simply reserved a conference room and readied it for the meeting!).
However, after a recent turn of events such as staffing vacancies and promotions, I have found myself providing administrative support to several other key managers while we recruit for vacant positions. Let’s face it—the work of an administrativeprofessional is never ending. To think otherwise is wishful thinking!
As they try to juggle the role of doing their job and the administrative part of the work as well, that makes for a heavy workload that could easily be handled by the administrative assistant. The up and coming assistant will need to be knowledgeable and skilled in what they do and assertive in doing it. But how can we help?

We need to be assertive and show our bosses how much better they can function if the administrative jobs are taken care of by us. Process your emails OUT of your inbox and into a TASK or CALENDAR appointment so you get them into your system for follow up, tracking, and completion. You don’t go to your physical mailbox and write checks and reply to letters standing at your mailbox. Don’t do that with your inbox either.
