From Ernan: When we created Ask an Admin we had hopes that we’d get questions from administrativeprofessionals having trouble finding answers to their problems. We also hoped that we’d get answers from administrative assistants and executive assistants that wanted to help.
As many of my regular readers already know, I am a proud former administrativeprofessional. I have a deep admiration and appreciation for those who dedicate themselves to support roles, which is one of the reasons I now focus a large part of my corporate training business on working with administrative teams.

I believe meeting planners and administrativeprofessionals possess similar skills/traits that enable them to be good at what they do. It’s a full-time job and then some and for the administrativeprofessional who is asked to plan a meeting over and above (or even as part of) their normal day-to-day responsibilities.
One of my favorite aspects of attending a professional development conference is the opportunity to connect with other administrativeprofessionals to share processes, tips, best practices and learn how they simplify daily tasks with technology. Another person used Sli.do to plan a family reunion.
Coming together is better than fighting for your own agenda. When you are trying to create change, whether in a process or for the administrative community in your organization, it is much easier to be persuasive when there is a group. Help them achieve their goals. There is strength in unity. Gain a new perspective.
