I spoke for the first time to a group of about 40 administrativeprofessionals at a local hospital on AdministrativeProfessionals Day. I was the keynote speaker at a professional event and had to speak for 45 minutes. I wasn't as nervous as I thought I would be.
Recently on Facebook on the International Association of AdministrativeProfessionals (IAAP) page they had a question on what would be the ideal gift from your boss or coworker on Admin Professionals Day. Not surprisingly, many of the comments, including mine, were in favour of a chance to go on paid professional development.
She earned her Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) rating in 2006. She earned her Certified AdministrativeProfessional (CAP) rating in 2007. She currently serves as an officer of the Capital Chapter of the International Association of AdministrativeProfessionals (IAAP) in Washington, DC.
I recently found an excellent site for administrativeprofessionals called OfficeArrow. It is written for office professionals, by office professionals and you can tell because the articles are very relevant to what we do every day. I have been browsing the site recently and discovering just how much there is on it.

Here is a list of magazines, books and websites that have caught my eye lately: Professional Magazines: OfficePro This is a well-written professional magazine put out by the International Association of AdministrativeProfessionals (IAAP).
I am a member of the International Association of AdministrativeProfessionals (IAAP). Both of these are excellent sources of information for the administrative assistant. As part of my membership I get a subscription to IAAP's magazine OfficePro and also to their e-newsletter OfficePro Express.
As I was doing research for other articles on this blog I came across the International Association of AdministrativeProfessionals' website ("IAAP") and was reminded of the advantages of being part of a professional organization. This article is not intended to be an endorsement of any one particular organization over another.
As I previously mentioned, there are mentorship possibilities available through your administrativeprofessional association. I also have a close circle of administrativeprofessional co-workers and friends and we help and mentor each other in different areas of our careers.
I also have friends who have retired and are skilled as an administrativeprofessional, who also want to work now and again and earn some money to take a vacation. Working virtually seems to be a nice answer to that question. I won't have to go to work and can work as much as I want from the comfort of my home. Stay tuned.

As in every aspect of life, relationships are two-way. Both parties have a responsibility and work to do to make it work. Reading, Reading and more Reading Expect to do a lot of reading the first week you are on the job.
