In 2016, Randy Sussman’s job transferred him from Las Vegas to Florida. The sport first exploded in retirement communities and now has flooded into the broader culture. He arrived in Marco Island in the state’s southwest corner knowing nobody. It was the inaugural U.S. Open Pickleball Championships.
