In 2014, we decided to ditch our jobs and bought a trailer to spend a year traveling and rock climbing—camping at the crag and moving to new spots as the seasons change, following the good weather. Fortunately, living in a trailer helped keep our expenses low. We didn’t plan it; it just happened out of necessity.
It is a lovely part of Geneva with lots of shops, restaurants and cafes nearby. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you might need if you can’t quite face the expensive local restaurants and the fridge was thoughtfully stocked with fruit juices, water and fizzy drinks. Our opinions are entirely our own.
After many many years of booking business travel to Houston for my Executives I finally got to travel there myself in January 2014. As you would expect there service levels are incredibly high particularly in restaurants, hotels and bars. I had certain expectations about Houston based on all of the itineraries I had created.
The Nadler Soho is located just off Soho Square which is pretty much in the centre of London’s West End with its theatres, restaurants, bars and shops all within walking distance. Around these parts hotels are pretty expensive (sometimes unreasonably so) but The Nadler is what you would call a hidden gem.
No expense had been spared in the suites. As it was Sunday the restaurant was very busy catering for the New York Sunday brunch crowd. Advertised minimum rate is $595 per room (April 2014). . In fact the entire hotel is intimate and quiet which is just what guests need after a busy day in New York. Opinions are entirely our own.
Similar to a lot of spa hotels the Nutfield’s Cloister restaurant offers a three course meal (£38 per head) as part of the weekend package rates. I loved sitting underneath the cloisters and I thought the setting for the restaurant was fantastic. Advertised minimum rate is £189 per room (June 2014). It was okay.
During my time in Geneva it certainly hadn’t escaped my notice that Geneva is an expensive city: you can’t really escape it (unless you spend all of your time hanging around the central train station). I had spent three days in Geneva and was well aware that everything is ridiculously expensive.
I manage his schedule and monitor his emails, as well as help organise some of his travel, company events, and client dinners, occasional research, expenses and ad hoc tasks – all the general PA duties. There are some fab vietnamese restaurants – I’m partial to a kimchi banh mi.
The surprises began with dinner at the swankiest restaurant from their hometown in Brussels and progressed to skydiving, matching tattoos and a “bachelor’s” weekend in Ireland. He started with his wife, Dawn, and has been doing it alone since her death in 2014. She woke him up at 5:30 a.m. foster care system for over 20 years.
Trello became an official company in 2014 and was bought by Australian software leaders Atlassian (creators of Jira) in 2017. It’s the equivalent of a restaurant that only offers a few menu items but really knocks those dishes out of the park as a result. Time tracking and expense tracking. What is Trello? Budget management.
We had a great (albeit expensive) time. I had a great birthday lunch with Anne at a restaurant in our inner harbour. I took part in my first “vertical” beer tasting when my friend Tony invited me and another friend Jeff over to his place to try Driftwood Old Cellar Dwellar from the 2012, 2013, and 2014 bottles. I turned 41.
